Welcome to My Project!

I was born and raised in Florida. After many years of travel, attending plein air paint outs, I discovered that residencies are the best way to explore the natural world I love. Working for an extended period from seven to ten days really enhances my painting experience. I am lucky to have friends and collectors who make it possible to explore the exciting and interesting locations I love to paint. Supporters provide their unoccupied vacation homes or hotel lodging for my residencies throughout the year. I am always delighted to leave an original framed painting for them as my thanks for their generous gift. If you would like to sponsor a residency, I would love to hear from you.

Linda's Fair Oaks Mini Residency- 04/29/2012

One of the many beautiful scenes I love at Fair Oaks

Fair Oaks - One of the many portals around the fields. Is it any wonder that I love it so much?

Notes From My Residency Journal

I was delighted to spend the day at Fair Oaks. Today was a beautiful early summer day in Florida. As I explored, I could see the last of spring flowers already beginning to fade. The trees have taken off their prom dresses and packed them away, preparing for the brutal heat to come with deep green skirts. I saw a few blue wildflowers left in the fields but they too are fading. The fields are tall with grass and the rye fields are bleached almost white now.

I spent a fair amount of my time today exploring the edge of the fields, hugging the shade. You never know what you will find there and today I learned that the new neighbor has goats. I don't know much about goats, but evidently they are hoping the goats will clean out a lot of underbrush on the property. A clever way to clear land if it works.

Next week there will be a nice party late in the day so I'll look forward to some good BBQ. Today's lunch was prepared by Danny, one of the men who take care of Fair Oaks. We had lasagna, garlic bread, and key lime pie. Yummy!!

Henry has to stay home now. It's too hot for him. He has trouble breathing in the heat.

As always I am so very grateful to be there.
